Stay a Fit Goddess While You Travel!

Uncategorized May 16, 2017

I am doing a ton of travelling this summer, and my worry is always how to stay fit while I'm away, so when I come home my workouts aren't torture. Also, I work hard at the gym, and I hate to lose my gains! It's totally not fair how fast you lost what you work so hard for!

I know I always do tons of walking and swimming while I'm away in Europe, but I like to keep my muscles strong, especially because I am just getting over some injuries and I can't have my muscles get weak!

Here are some tips to keep your fitness level up, and still have fun while you travel!

1. Remember you are on vacation. Relax, and have fun. Don't obsess about getting your workouts in. (This is a challenge for me!)

2. Bring a set of resistance bands. They are super light and versatile.

3. Commit to doing a quick workout, maybe 3x/week. I usually try to do 30 minutes of weights and intervals a few times a week. I do them first thing in the morning, so all my galavanting doesn't get in the way.

4. Enjoy...

Channel Your Inner Athena

Uncategorized Apr 29, 2017

Did you know that the goddess Athena popped out of Zeus’s head, fully grown and clad in armour? How cool is that? She represents wisdom and clear thinking, and level headedness in battle. She didn’t use brute force in war, but relied on her wisdom to win wars.

So what can we harness from this? I like to think of Athena as the brains of the operation- thinking logically, with that quiet power and confidence that fosters admiration and respect. I think of her as an Oprah – a powerful career woman or business owner. A mom who puts up with no crap, or someone who plays in a man’s world, and wins. A lawyer who sticks up for those who can’t defend themselves, a young girl braving herself against a bully in the schoolyard. Athena gives us our strength.

Athena can help us realize our limiting beliefs around confidence, and to realize our potential. She wouldn’t let anyone tell her what her role should be or how she should behave. She is strong and...

The Goddess Abeona- The Goddess Of Leaving Your Comfort Zone

Uncategorized Apr 28, 2017

This month, I needed to channel a goddess who would allow me to travel, evolve and change. I am taking a month off- June- to travel to Italy with my family, and then I'll be in Nevada for two and a half weeks for the NLP Master Practitioner certification. To say I'm feeling overwhelmed and stressed would be an understatement! I'm trying to get myself and my business the place we need to be in order to take 2 months off.

So I need a goddess to make me feel empowered, not stressed. I did some research, and found Abeona. She is the goddess of first steps, often the first steps a child takes away from her parents, going off to explore the world. She is the goddess of partings, and leaving your comfort zone. Abeona allows you to enter new levels of self-discovery, personal growth and being independent. She makes you take risks and grow, mentally and spiritually.

Are you ready to take some big steps, make huge changes and step out of your comfort zone? Sometimes that means doing...

Feeling Lost? Channel Your Inner Pesephone!

Uncategorized Apr 28, 2017

So Persephone has a really cool story. She and her mother, Demeter, were super close, both beautiful and lovely. Demeter made the crops fruitful all year round. One day, Persephone was out gathering flowers and Hades, the God of the Underworld stole her away, and brought down to his world. Of course, her mother was going nuts, looking everywhere for her. When she found out where she was, her wrath was insane, as any of you moms can relate to! She shut everything down- killed all the crops, and went raging all over earth. In the meantime, Persephone was super sad, but then started warming up to Hades. I picture him like the bad boy in a teen movie- brooding, kind of evil, but charismatic. Persephone had refused to eat, but Hades talked her into having 6 pomegranate seeds. Once she ate the food from Hades, she belonged there. But because Demeter was up on earth, raging it up, killing crops and such, Zeus was freaking out, because he didn’t want the humans to starve and start...

How I Became The Goddess of Holistic Fitness Transformations

Uncategorized Apr 18, 2017

Most people know me as a personal trainer and nutrition coach. That’s true. But in the past few years, some things have happened that have made me change the whole concept of my business, what I want to do, and how I want to help people. I recently became the Goddess of Holistic Fitness Transformations.
But I haven’t always felt like a goddess. Four years ago, many many years into my personal training career, my own personal trainer approached me about training for a fitness show. I thought it sounded fun, so I agreed. I had no idea what I’d have to do. On my journey, I started severely restricting my food intake, only allowing myself lean meat and veggies. I boiled my chicken, so it had almost no fats or salt and I didn’t eat a piece of fruit for months. I started my day with a protein shake (just protein and almond milk), then ate chicken or tuna or fish and vegetables the rest of the day. Some of you might remember how cranky I was!
I also exercised for 3-4...

Stop Dieting Forever!

nutrition Apr 17, 2017

I have been on every diet under the sun. I have tried Weight Watchers, low carb, no carb, carb cycling, ketogenic, vegan, smoothie, alkaline, and probably more that I can’t even remember. They all had parts that were great, and parts that I hated. I always liked learning new recipes, and trying different ways of eating. I became addicted to the feeling of the beginning of a new diet: THIS is the one that is going to work for me. It was always a new beginning- a promise of how great I was going to look and feel.

I hated that feeling that other people can eat fun things, but I couldn’t. I hated that no matter what diet I tried, I never got the results I wanted. I hated failing. I hated not being allowed to eat a piece of bread, or plate of pasta or birthday cake. I hated being hungry. But at the same time, I loved it. I loved denying myself certain foods- it was almost like it made me a better person. Stronger than the average person. I could say no to foods I really...

What Would Aphrodite Do?

Uncategorized Apr 17, 2017

Ah February – cold and crappy, the month where the groundhog might predict an early spring, and we are supposed to feel all hearts and flowersy because it’s Valentine’s Day. It’s the month of love. You are supposed to declare your love for the people in your life.

But what about the most important person - you?

What about declaring a whole crap-ton of love for yourself?

Does that sound crazy to you? Are you like, “Love myself? But I’m fat. I look gross. I can’t do anything right. I screwed up at work. I’m lame”

Sound familiar?

I can especially relate to the “I’m fat and gross and look awful” vibe...

How is that working out for you? Are those limiting beliefs holding you back from doing what you really want to do and having everything you want? I know, because I’ve been there.

What kind of goddess feels crappy, limiting herself and playing small?

None, that’s who.

So I was trying to think of which...

Work Out Like A Warrior Goddess

Uncategorized Apr 17, 2017

So how do you work out like a warrior goddess? Athena’s workout would be about power, strength and agility. She wants to get the most efficient workout in the quickest time – Athena is all about working out smarter not harder. Want to be as powerful as a warrior goddess, lithe and lean and ready for anything? Add some of these into your program:

1.HITT intervals. High Intensity Interval Training is a quick workout that gets your heart pumping and burns fat in a short amount of time. You want a short, quick burst of energy- so intense that you can hardly breathe, followed by a longer recovery. For example, 30 seconds of hard sprinting, 1 minute or longer of walking recovery. By the 6th or 7th round, you should be totally exhausted.
2. Lift Heavy Stuff. The more muscle mass you have, the more energy you burn at rest (the more you get to eat!) Don’t be afraid to lift heavy weights- 5-8 repetitions until exhaustion.
3.Work your upper body. Women tend to focus on lower...

How NLP Can Help You Reach All Your Goals!

nlp Apr 17, 2017

So what you really want to know is what the heck is this NLP stuff, and how can it help ME. Right?

The definition of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) is simply using the language of the brain to consistently achieve our specific and desired outcomes. What??
Ok- to keep it simple – We look at where/how you are stuck, find out the deeper, underlying problem, and change your brain’s old patterns that are deep and ingrained, and forge new pathways that are positive, and will allow you to reach your goals.

Say, for example, I have a client come to me and she says “I can’t lose weight. I have tried everything, and if I lose it, it all comes back. I just can’t eat healthy.” Those are all beliefs and patterns that she revisits all the time, all day, every day, and they are very deeply ingrained. She completely believes them. You probably have many beliefs you revisit often, that hold you back as well. They could be, “I’ll never meet someone-I...
